Jeffrey Cote, of Savoy in the Berkshires, is wanted in connection with the stabbing that happened on early Wednesday morning, June 7, Massachusetts State Police report.

Police officers were called to a home in Adams in Berkshire County just after 5 a.m. to reports of a woman being stabbed, as previously reported by Daily Voice. Responders rushed her to a hospital with serious injuries, and she is expected to survive, State police said.

Investigators believe her ex-boyfriend was behind the attack, but when SWAT teams and crisis negotiators went to his home in Savoy, he was not there, official said.

Authorities believe that Cote, who should be considered armed and dangerous, could still be in Savoy or Cheshire. Anyone with information or believes to see him is asked not to approach and to call 911 or the State Police-Cheshire Barracks at 413-743-4700.
